Interview with Françoise de Lostende

Your favourite quality in a woman

Honest and with strict professional integrity

Your favourite activity

Sharing time with family and friends; vinification matters

Your best wine-related memory

The first time one of my wines was selected along with a Château Cheval Blanc on the occasion of the premier for the opera, Aida at the stade de France, some years ago

Your best wine-related encounter

Frequent meetings with visitors to our estate; also, meeting a group of people from the Paris area, loyal customers, who are doing all they can to obtain some land to plant vines and develop tourism on the theme " vine- wine- the art of life"

Your funniest anecdote

An inveterate red wine drinker, who, ever since he came to visit us now drinks only our wines

Your favourite wine/wine producing area

Difficult to say but I do like to taste new wines; recently I enjoyed a Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru 2005 and a Barolo 2000 (sorry to be unfaithful to our excellent French wines)

Your motto or your favourite quote

The one inscribed above the entrance to our estate which can be translated to mean "there is never anytime to rest" or "work until your last hour". Another, is a quotation from the book of Ecclesiastes "good wine warms the heart of man" to which I would add "a woman's heart also".....
