Interview with Laurence and Athénais De Béru

Your favourite quality in a woman
I meet a lot of "super women". It amazes me to see how women are capable of doing and handling several things, with much simplicity and generosity ! My mother is one of them ! ; )

Your favourite activity
Attending the maturing process in the cellar’s quiet atmosphere, it’s almost like a meditation moment.

Your best wine-related memory
My first Vinexpo in 2005 : a very hostile environment to taste wines… huge venue, miles to go from one hall to the other, crowded… I was invited to a lunch at the Corsican restaurant, which has now become a must… and there, two brothers : one was a winegrower and the other was a veal farmer, both 100 % natural :Domaine Abatucci. They treated us with their wines and their veal meat… a great moment ! The WHOLE assembly gave them a stand up ovation, we had a lot of pleasure and emotion… it was magical ! Time was suspended thanks to these two men !

Your best wine-related encounter.
My best friend, Sebastien Burel. We learned to make wine together as interns on an estate, since then, we have never left wine ! He has launched a fantastic project, vinomaniac.tv, and he manages to keep a few weeks to rescue me during the picking. A precious help. I feel like I would have never succeeded without his support.

Your funniest anecdote
Ouch.. I don’t know… We have so much fun. I have a joyful team...

Your favourite wine/wine producing area
I make white wines… but I also like red wines… My absolute favourites are Henri Milan’s wines in Baux de Provence designation... A great man, a great winegrower, I have a lot of admiration and friendship for him and I think his wines are delicious and unique.

Your motto or your favourite quote
The family motto "Straight line is the shortest…"… free interpretation, but from my little experience, one does not always uses the shortest path, life is full of surprises and one must take every opportunity.

There’s a wonderful quote from Khalil Gibran, a great lebanese poet, that I can’t remember… maybe for next time !
