The estate in a few words
A talented oenologist and winegrower in Burgundy since 1989, she originated from the Nièvre region on a farm at the foot of the Morvan hills.
Her childhood, set in the country, greatly influenced her approach to life where the sensations of colour, taste and smell are an everyday feature; very early she learnt to appreciate the fragrances of nature, for example, lime, acacia, mint, crushed grass, wild roses, humus; in the garden, carrots, peas, string beans (which she ate raw) or, in the orchard, cherries, plums, raspberries and in the family kitchen, homemade jams, cakes, fresh cheese.....
Later, Clotilde decided she wanted to make use of all the knowledge she had acquired and chose to study winemaking; after graduating in oenology, she practiced in the Beaujolais region first and then in California before returning to Burgundy.
For 17 years as winemaker with an important Chablis winery – and the hundreds of batches for which she was responsible - she was able to develop her skills in producing wines expressing the characteristics of the plots from which they originated, skills which have confirmed her reputation and on which she has always endeavoured to improve.
In 2005 she established her own domain, bringing her ever closer to the vine and thus master the quality of the grape.
Signed Clotilde Davenne, her wines are fine, delicate and elegant.
